Botox vs. Dysport: Which Wrinkle Relaxer Is Right for You?
July 10, 2026 · 5 min read
If you have started researching wrinkle relaxers, you have almost certainly seen two names come up again and again: Botox and Dysport. Both are excellent, both are FDA-approved, and both do the same essential job — relaxing the small muscles that create expression lines. So how do you choose? The honest answer is that a good provider chooses with you, in a consultation. But it helps to understand the difference.
What they have in common
Botox and Dysport are both neurotoxins. When placed precisely into a muscle, they temporarily soften its movement, which smooths the lines that movement creates — forehead lines, frown lines between the brows, and crow’s feet around the eyes. Neither one “freezes” your face when it is done well. The goal is a rested, natural look, not a blank one.
How they differ
The practical differences are subtle:
- Spread. Dysport tends to diffuse a little more from each injection point. That can make it efficient for larger areas like the forehead.
- Precision. Botox stays closer to where it is placed, which many providers prefer for small, detailed areas — like fine lines around the eyes.
- Onset. Some people notice Dysport working a day or two sooner, though both reach full effect within about two weeks.
The best injectable is the one matched to your anatomy, your muscle strength and the result you want — not the one with the biggest marketing budget.
How long do results last?
For most people, both last about three to four months. With consistent treatment, some clients find their muscles gradually relax and they can space appointments further apart over time.
What to expect at your appointment
The treatment itself takes only a few minutes. You may have tiny bumps or mild redness at the injection sites that settle within an hour or two. There is essentially no downtime — most clients return to their day right away.
The bottom line
Botox and Dysport are both reliable, and in trained hands they produce beautifully natural results. Rather than deciding on your own, bring your questions to a consultation. We will look at how your muscles move, talk through your goals, and recommend the product and dose that fit you.
